Diet Experts vote Vegan Diet Best for Diabetes
Healthy Eating & Nutrition News: Experts vote Vegan Diet Best for Diabetes:
22 Experts including registered nutritionists , Doctors and health researchers have voted vegan diets as joint next best diet to tackle diabetes. The criteria was based partly on convenience so we are guessing as a vegan plant strong diet becomes more popular, and vegan plantarian foods become more easily available then we will soon move to number one ??
Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston says "Not just logic and common sense but also the research is finally stacking up in favour of a Plantarian diet with a higher intake of whole, complete, natural plant foods, fruit and vegetables, with a low GL (Glycaemic load), naturally lower in saturated animal fat that can make dramatic changes to health."
Even Doctors are beginning to work out that changes in diet can be more powerful than drugs, with less side effects and less expensive. Sadly this has led to lobbyists and supporters of the pharmaceutical industry trying to gag nutritionists, ban super-foods, ban supplements, ban natural herbs and even stop experts on the internet from talking about natural plants that have often been used for thousands of years to treat health problems.

Meat Free Monday - Launch

As people are struggling to work it out for themselves he's clearly decided it would take a little more effort. Today 15th June Meat Free Mondays launches with a big article in the independent and a new website.
The Independent reveals - 'The McCartneys have attracted support from across the worlds of showbusiness, science, business and the environment. The singer Chris Martin, Hollywood stars Kevin Spacey and Woody Harrelson, actress Joanna Lumley and Sir Richard Branson are advocating meat-free Mondays.
Support has also come from comedians Ricky Gervais, David Walliams and Matt Lucas, the poet Benjamin Zephaniah and Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman.
Another supporter, Sir David King, the Government's former chief scientist, said: "The carbon and water footprints associated with producing beef are about 20 times larger than maize production. Eating less meat will help the environment."'
Paul McCartney and his team have suceeded where the rest of us have failed and pulled in over 40 celebrities for a lunchtime media event at Inn the Park in St James's Park today
Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston says "It will be interesting to watch the UK get healthier as a result of eating less meat as well as the planet"

Vegan Futures - Economist.com
Business.view | Lone woman seeks bald man | Economist.com

If you say a fact enough times it becomes a truth..........
The number of “vegan children” is also set to soar. Already, around 1.5m American children aged 8-18 are vegetarian. This trend could spell trouble for the meat industry, which has already launched a counter-offensive. “If the Veggie Child trend is sustained through adulthood, the industry’s future could be at risk,” says Mr Penn, who foresees a growing market for “designer veggies” and tips soya-bean futures as “a great investment”.
(AS CHIEF strategist to Hillary Clinton in her presidential bid, Mark Penn has been tipped by The Economist as the “next Karl Rove”. But when not wondering how best to take the White House, Mr Penn is a business guru too. He runs a corporate public-relations giant, Burson-Marsteller, and has advised many top company bosses. Washington, DC insiders will browse his new book, “Microtrends”, for clues on how the Hillary-for-president campaign will be run; others should read it for its dozens of social insights that could well be turned to profit. )

Vegan Foods Cure Cancer
Fruit and Vegetables - Cancer Cure
Was it Gandhi who said if you say a truth enough times it will become a fact? OK here goes..... Veganism can prevent cancer , vegan diets can prevent cancer, a wide variety of fruit and vegetables in your diet could cure cancer.
Cancer cure stories are all over the press like a rash this week after reasearch showed colours in fruit and vegetables could kill up to 20% of cancerous cells.
Do we here shouts of "Eat more fruit and Veg! Prevent Cancer!" No, they are all excited because they think they can isolate the colour (forgetting about all the other anticancerous nutrients in the fruit) and turn it into a drug.
Please help me out here people.
How many people died of eating too much fruit and veg in 2006?
How many people died of taking too many drugs or died of side effects of 'safe' drugs in 2006?

Blogs of Note !!
Thanks to the Blogger Team for naming us as a blog of note on the 1st March 2007
It wasn't so long ago the topic of veganism was on the fringes of acceptability and we'd struggle to be honoured in this way. These days with all the talk about the environment, healthy eating, and fair trade products, vegetarian and vegan diets are now rising rapidly in popularity.
The International Vegan Festival- The Bristol Vegan Fayre on the 9th and 10th June will I'm sure speed this growing consciousness along.
With live bands, more delicious vegan food than you can shake a stick at, speakers, Hemp Expo, ethical fashion show etc etc etc it's going to be a weekend not to be missed.

Let's prove to him how easy and healthy it can be aswell as more environmentally friendly - send your practical solutions, ideas and favourite recipes to him at the BBC Newsnight Website
For people who wish to explore the solutions that veganism has to offer there's probably no better place than the Vegan Festival in Bristol this summer. Be there or be unaware !
