VegestUK London - Vegfest Vegetarian Vegan Event in London October 5th 6th 2013

The dates have been confirmed for a brand new vegetarian lifestyle show in the heart of the West
End of London at the world famous Kensington Olympia over two days in October 2013. 10,000 visitors are expected to attend the two day event, which is open from 11am – 7pm.

Comedian Dave Spikey (Phoenix Nights) is amongst the guests participating, which also includes
musician Macka B, comedian Andrew O’Neill, presenters Janey Lee Grace (BBC Radio 2) and Dale Pinnock (TV Herbalist Chef) , athlete Fiona Oakes, chef Chad Sarno (Raw Food Saf Restaurant ), actress Roxy Shahidi, Yvonne Bishop–Weston ( Harley Street, TV Nutritionist, London ), Nutritionists Christine
Bailey and Julie Silver and a number of other leading lights from within the healthy living sector, including top chefs, nutritionists, speakers, entertainers, celebrities and experts, with many more to be confirmed.

The show sees over 150 stalls, all full of the latest vegetarian and vegan products, as well as two
cookery demo theatres, a Living Raw prep zone, 3 talks rooms, 2 cinemas, 2 workshops spaces, a kids- area and a large performance stage, ensuring visitors to the event are spoiled for choice, with many
of the stalls providing free samples and tasters as well as produce at vastly reduced costs.

Admission to the event is £10 each day (£6 concessions, £2 Kids under 14) and tickets are available on the gate or in advance. All tickets bought in advance are on a Buy One Get On free offer too, ensuring real value for visitors from across London and the South East. The event is sponsored by

Some of the UK’s finest veggie food producers gather together at the first ever Brighton Eco Veggie Fayre on Saturday March 20th from 11am – 6pm, with the organisers expecting thousands of people through the door to experience the delights of one of the UK’s fastest growing lifestyle choices – the veggie diet.

Some choose to be veggie on health grounds, others because they are concerned about the welfare of animals, but a growing number of people from all backgrounds are going veggie for one reason only – the food!

Veggie food has long since shed the earnest but rather dull hippy image of the 70’s, and with leading UK veggie caterers at the Brighton Eco Veggie Fayre including the likes of V Bites, Heather Mill’s flagship Hove based restaurant, alongside food producers with the likes of the award winning Fry’s and Redwood ranges available to sample free, there’s a huge choice to be had.

‘Visitors to the show will be spoilt for choice when it comes to what to eat’ says the organiser Tim Barford from Bristol based hemp firm Yaoh. ‘There’s an incredible selection of really tasty food on offer and all of it is 100% plant based. We have up to 80 stalls at the event with some amazing products on offer, including bodycare and clothes, plus loads of information – it’s a really good way to find out just how good the veggie lifestyle can be.’

With a talks room, a cookery demos area, and an entertainments arena as well as an all day licensed bar, there’s a full line up to suit all tastes and with an admission price of just £3 for adults and £1 for kids and OAP’s, Tim is expecting a full house.

‘There’s a real increase in interest in anything eco friendly and especially in Brighton and Hove, which has the biggest population of veggies anywhere on the planet’ add Tim,’ and with such an excellent variety of products, food, experts and information available, its going to be a busy day.’

It’s not all fun and games though – there are some serious issues at stake, and the keynote speech at the event looks at Global Food Security, and in particular the effect livestock farming has on developing countries. ‘We are very pleased to have Dr Stephen Walsh from the Vegan Society at the show to deliver this vital talk’ says Tim. ‘We have to remember we are all responsible for what happens next on this planet.’

Bit late I know but I'm just back from Sunny Beach in Bulgaria - These same two natural ethical organic Sun Tan Lotions / Sun Creams /Sun screen that scored 4 stars are the same we took with us. They were so effective they lulled me into a false sense of security and the one afternoon I was playing on the beach without them I got slightly burnt. I can thus recommend them.

The whole sun cream thing isa catch 22 situation - you need the sun for vitamin D - but burning isn't going to do you any good at all.

SPF15, £9.95 for 240ml - The white cream has a pleasant coconut smell and rubs easily into the skin. And my pallid skin has remained that way, no sunburn. Although it has an organic tag, this sunblock contains a host of chemical-sounding ingredients and only certain ones are certified organic. However, farther down the list is organic olive and hemp oil, and aloe vera. Yaoh claims the chemicals it uses are the least damaging available, as well as being vegan.

3 Green People sun lotion - SPF15, £15.99 for 200ml

The nicest thing about this suncream is its delicious cool fragrance. It was easy to apply, too, without any residual stickiness. The ingredients include edelweiss, green tea and avocado, and a couple of scientific-sounding things – phenoxyethanol and ethyhexyglycerin – which may have something to do with the product’s suntan accelerator. It did prevent my fair skin from burning, so definitely one for the holiday suitcase.
