I have been vegan for only a...This is insane to me. I have been vegan for only a couple years- maybe a little less than 2 actually. I have never been healthier and my appearance and medical tests back it. When I read things like this I just think it isn't veganism, it is stupidity. How a person living where access to diverse food groups, access to knowledge on the internet or by physician or book and so forth, can be malnutritioned (unless by a medical problem aside from diet) is beyond me. I can only blame the lack of common sense. And yes, I love how if two vegan families have done something terrible it is all blamed on the diet but the true common ground is that the parents are irresponsible- not because they are vegan. Plenty of omnivorous families do irresponsible things like feed their children lots of sweets and fats hence the rise in children obesity and diabetes- those parents should face penalties. As a student who plans to become a dietician, I just have to shake my head. If these families were serious, they should have been responsible enough to provide adequate nutrition to themselves and children. People like this just makes it that much harder for others to accept how healthy a plant-based diet is.
